Is There a Disneyland Christmas Party? What Really Happens for the Holidays (2025 Guide)

DISNEYLAND CHRISTMAS PARTY

If you’ve been hunting for info about a so-called “Disneyland Christmas party,” you should know, but Disneyland doesn’t throw a separate ticketed Christmas party like Disney World does.

The real Disneyland holiday events are primarily included right into your regular admission.

You already get all the lights, the over-the-top decorations, holiday parades, and seasonal shows—no need for a special event ticket to experience it all.

Disneyland takes a different approach from its Florida cousin, so if you’re debating which coast brings the bigger cheer, I highly recommend my detailed breakdown of the Disneyland vs Disney World: holiday experience for a straight comparison.

In short, the whole park gets the festive treatment, so nobody misses out. You’ll find surprises around every corner, but you won’t need to shell out extra just to see Disneyland decked out for Christmas.

This post is all about what happens for the holidays, as there isn’t a Disneyland Christmas party.

Holiday Events You Can Enjoy with Regular Disneyland Tickets

Seasonal Parades and Fireworks

Parades and fireworks are at the heart of the Disneyland Christmas party vibe (without the party price tag). If you want full-throttle holiday magic, here’s where to set your sights:

Where to watch:

  • The parade glides down Main Street U.S.A., stretching from “it’s a small world” all the way past the iconic Christmas tree at Town Square. I recommend getting here early (45 minutes + in advance) if you REALLY want a great view.
  • For fireworks, the best view is right in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle, but being on Main Street, U.S.A. is important for the place to enjoy the snow (or “snoap”).

Who/what you’ll see:

  • Mickey, Minnie, and lots of other Disney and Pixar characters parade past in their best winter outfits, waving from gingerbread floats during the parade.

  • Santa Claus anchors the parade, waving his way along the entire route.
  • Festive music during these shows/parades.

When it happens:

  • A Christmas Fantasy Parade rolls out twice daily during the season, usually in the afternoon and evening. Times may change, so always check the official schedule.
  • “Believe… in Holiday Magic” fireworks show runs select nights. Once again, check before your visit if seeing this show is super important to you.

Festival of the Holidays

Festival of the Holidays at Disney California Adventure brings music, food, and holiday traditions from many cultures together (similar to the festival in Epcot at Walt Disney World).

The park bursts with color as live performers sing and dance around Paradise Gardens.

Food booths line the walkways, offering small plates and drinks that highlight holiday flavors from around the world.

Families enjoy craft stations, character meet-and-greets, and daytime parades set to festive tunes.

The atmosphere feels warm and welcoming, inviting everyone to join in the celebration.

It’s a lively mix of sights, sounds, and tastes that marks the season with plenty of Disney magic.

You can enjoy this festival for free (with just your regular park ticket) – but as expected, foods and drinks from festival booths will cost you extra.

Special experiences that require separate purchases

All this said, Disneyland offers a handful of special experiences, meals, and collectibles that cost extra.

These are totally optional, but can be worth it for some guests.

Dining packages and merchandise

  1. Holiday dining packages

Holiday dining packages can unlock priority seating for shows or snag you a spot at fan-favorite parades.

The most popular are tied to big events like A Christmas Fantasy Parade. These usually include a set menu meal at a table-service restaurant, a keepsake, and reserved viewing. You can book these in advance on Disneyland’s official site or the Disneyland app. See more information here.

Holiday-themed character meals are another splurge for fans desperate to meet Santa and Disney pals in rare costumes. During the holiday season, Minnie & Friends at Plaza Inn and Goofy’s Kitchen in the Disneyland Hotel often feature festive gear, extra desserts, and maybe even a holiday photo op. At Goofy’s Kitchen during the holidays, for example, it costs $65 + tax per adult (10+) or $36 + tax per child (ages 3-9) for breakfast and brunch and $75 + tax per adult or $39 per child for dinner.

2. Disneyland Christmas Merch

Unsurprisingly, Disneyland offers plenty of holiday merchandise. We’re talking everything from limited-edition spirit jerseys to popcorn buckets and collectible pins.

How can you stay on-site at Disneyland during the holidays on a budget?

Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa

You can find some amazing Christmas decorations at Disneyland’s on-site hotels. But they are usually expensive to stay at.

My favorite way to save money by staying on-site at Disneyland is by renting DVC points through an established company, like David’s Vacation Club Rentals.

You can book a studio or villa at the Grand Californian or The Villas at Disneyland Hotel for less than the cash price, sometimes a lot less, and still get that on-site bubble.

You can request a reservation, or if you’re looking for a more last-minute stay, check out their confirmed reservations (which are sometimes even cheaper!).

(Side note: there’s generally more availability at The Villas at Disneyland Hotel).

Final Thoughts & Ta Ta For Now

Sure there’s no standalone, ticketed Disneyland Christmas party in California, but honestly, that’s not a bad thing.

All the seasonal fun is included in with your regular admission, so you don’t have to stress over snagging a party ticket or worrying about missing out.

If you’re eyeing a trip for 2025, book your dates as early as possible and plan ahead. Crowds will almost certainly be large, but the payoff is worth it when you see the park in full holiday mode.
