There are a million things to plan for a Disney vacation, but are Disney World park hopper tickets another one?
It’s confusing (and expensive) enough to purchase Disney World tickets. How many days should you buy? Should you buy them from Disney directly or a third-party company?
And then, just to overcomplicate something already complex, should you buy Disney World park hopper tickets?
This post will cover the 9 reasons why Disney World park hopper tickets are worth it.
Disney World Park Hopper Tickets
@caffeinebythecastle Disney World park hopping is one of my favourite activities! Is there anything better than going to rope drop at one park, and watching the fireworks at another?! Do you think the park hopper add-on is worth the additional expense? Tickets with a Park Hopper option at Disney World currently allow you to visit more than one theme park after 2pm – usually costing $60-$80 (on top of the price of your tickets).
Disney World tickets with a Park Hopper Plus option provides the same benefits as the Park Hopper Option – plus a certain amount of access to the water parks (Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach) and sports activities. This costs an additional $85 per ticket.
1. Disney World Park Hopper tickets allow for spontaneity
If you’ve ever planned a Disney World vacation (or are planning your first Disney trip), you know that it takes some planning. A lot of planning.
I love planning out every day of my Disney vacations, but sometimes it’s nice to do something unscheduled and unplanned. Sometimes, it’s nice to spontaneously go and ride Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind at Epcot (providing not all the boarding groups are full), instead of the plans I made at Magic Kingdom.

If you’re a spontaneous vacationer, the extra cost of a Disney World Park Hopper ticket may be worth it for you.
2. Perfect for shorter trips
Are you taking a weekend trip to Disney World? Is choosing just two parks to visit as hard as choosing your favourite child?
The answer is the Park Hopper add-on 😂
Okay, but seriously, you could potentially visit all four of the main Disney World theme parks on a weekend trip – with a park hopper ticket.
Sure, this would be exhausting, and you wouldn’t get everything done in every park, but it would allow you to see more of Disney World in less time.
3. If you’ve been to Disney World before and you don’t want to do EVERYTHING in each park
If you’ve been to Disney World, you likely have your favourite attractions (hi, Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway).
Similarly, you probably have attractions that you don’t mind missing (that’s Mission Space for me).
If you are more concerned about going to every park and hitting your favourite attractions than trying to experience everything you possibly can in Disney World, park hopper tickets may be perfect for you!
4. If you go to the parks from rope drop to closing
Are you up early enough to see the beautiful sunrise on the way to the Disney parks?
Are you out late enough to see the lights on Spaceship Earth?
If you spend far more time at the parks than at your resort, a park hopper ticket will allow you to see even more of what the parks have to offer.
5. If your resort is close to two parks
If your resort is located close to more than one Disney park, park hopping becomes much easier – especially if you like to take a break at your resort partway through the day.
This is easiest for you, if your resort is located on the monorail loop, the Skyliner route or in walking distance of more than one resort.
Resorts on the monorail loop (easy access to Magic Kingdom and Epcot)
- Disney’s Contemporary Resort
- Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort
- Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa
Resorts on the Skyliner (easy access to Epcot and Hollywood Studios)
- Disney’s Pop Century Resort
- Disney’s Art of Animation Resort
- Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort
- Disney’s Riviera Resort
Resorts within walking distance of Epcot and Hollywood Studios
- Disney’s Boardwalk Resort
- Disney’s Beach Club Resort
- Disney’s Yacht Club Resort
- Walt Disney World Swan Resort
- Walt Disney World Dolphin Resort
The resorts above also have access to water taxis and the Skyliner for these resorts.
6. If you get the Park Hopper Plus, you have the option of visiting the water parks
Sure, Disney World is better known for the Tower of Terror at Hollywood Studios or Space Mountain at Magic Kingdom than the Snow Stormers at Blizzard Beach or the Storm Slides at Typhoon Lagoon.
But that doesn’t mean that the water parks aren’t worth the visit!
If you’re taking a more leisurely vacation (more than 4-5 days), Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon can be a nice, relaxing contrast to the chaos of the main theme parks.
As long as the weather is good, there is usually at least one water park open at a time.
7. You can do the 4 parks, 1 day challenge
If you consume a lot of Disney Parks content on social media, you have likely seen the 4 parks, 1 day challenge.
If not, it is exactly as it sounds. One day of your vacation, where you visit Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom all in the same day.
Yeah, they’re not kidding when they refer to it as a “challenge” 😂
If this sounds fun to you (and not tiring and overwhelming), maybe it’s worth purchasing the Park Hopper add-on, to see if you can conquer the challenge!
8. If you’re a thrillseeker, you might get bored spending a whole day in 1 park
Disney World is known for many things: magic, characters, parades, fireworks, and so much more.
Disney World is not known for its thrilling rides. (Not that they don’t have them).

Even though every park has some “scarier” rides, most parks don’t have enough to fill your entire day.
Hollywood Studios arguably has the most scary rides, so perhaps you wouldn’t get bored spending the whole day there, if you’re a thrillseeker.
If you’re a thrill seeker with a park hopper ticket, you can park hop and ride roller coasters to your heart’s content!
9. Disney World Park Hopper tickets allow access to a larger variety of dining options every day
If you’re a Disney foodie (I mean, how can’t you be when beignets exist?!), park hopping allows you to try more Disney food each day.

After all, who wouldn’t want Totchos from Woody’s Lunch Box and a Dole Whip on the same day?!
This is even more appealing when there is an Epcot festival (which is more often than not).
The Food and Wine Festival is the most obvious for trying different food, but every Epcot festival offers some amazing dining options!
