Are you currently researching and wondering: ‘How many parks are there at Disney World’? Today, we will answer this question and uncomplicate this.
As the name suggests, Disney is a world in itself. Itโs bigger than Manhattan – and sometimes feels like there are too many resorts, rides, and, namely, parks to count.ย
So today, weโre going to break it down and cover all the parks at Disney World (and hey, hopefully, youโll feel less overwhelmed by the end of this post!).
When I first went to Disney World, I had already visited Disneyland Paris six times. And even that Disney Parks experience couldnโt prepare me for the enormity of Disney World.ย

So it’s safe to say I understand how overwhelming it can be, which is why I decided to write this post. It definitely would’ve helped me and my family on our first Disney World trip!

@caffeinebythecastle Disney World has a lot of parks. And by a lot, I mean, you canโt count them all on one hand, if youโre counting both water parks! The first, and arguably, the most iconic and recognisable park is the Magic Kingdom.
This park is as old as Disney World (opening on October 1st, 1971).ย

Epcot
The second park to open at Disney World was Epcot, on October 1st, 1982.
It is frequently regarded as the best theme park in the world – and for good reason!
After all, Epcot is home to 11 replicas of other countries. How many other theme parks can say that?!

Animal Kingdom
Opening towards the end of Michael Eisnersโs infamous โDisney Decadeโ was Animal Kingdom, on April 22nd, 1998.
Critics may describe this as a โglorified zooโ, but this park is far more than that.ย
You can go on safari and meet animals, such as:
- Giraffes ๐ฆ
- Elephants ๐
- Lions ๐ฆ
- Crocodiles ๐
- Zebras ๐ฆ
- Hippos ๐ฆ
So yeah, much more than a “glorified zoo” …

5. and 6. Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach
As the names suggest, these are Disney World’s two water parksย ๐
Typhoon Lagoon became the first water park at Disney World, on June 1st, 1989.
Just a handful of years later, on April 1st, 1995, Blizzard Beach became the next Disney World water park.
Many people skip these water parks on their vacations, but they can be fun, and are worth a visit – especially if you are taking a slightly longer Disney World trip.
Disney Springs
Okay, I know: Disney Springs is not a theme park. Technically.
That being said, in recent years, Disney Springs has become a very iconic area of Disney World – almost as much (if not more) than some of the parks. So, I thought it was worth a quick mention.
If you have a couple of unallocated hours on your Disney World vacation, it may be worth visiting Disney Springs.
On the surface, it is little more than a shopping and dining area. But it really is magical at night – especially with the tastefully loud music.
