The Best Attractions At Magic Kingdom For Thrill-Seekers

1. Space Mountain

Height Restriction: 44in (112cm) +

Highlights: Roller coaster in the dark, moderate to large drops, neck pain (and perhaps pain in general)

Location: Tomorrowland

Space Mountain is an iconic, 1970s, Disney World roller coaster, that will blast you into outer space – just watch out for the darkness and drops!

Also, if you suffer from neck or back pain, be aware that this isn’t the smoothest ride. Personally, it’s usually not an issue for me on this ride. But, I have had an extremely mild neck ache a couple of times after riding Space Mountain.

If you can tolerate that, Space Mountain is one of the most intense roller coasters in Magic Kingdom, and arguably the most exciting attraction in Tomorrowland.

Well, that was before a new attraction FINALLY opened …

2. TRON Lightcycle / Run

Height Restriction: 48in (122cm) +

Highlights: Fast, thrilling, dark with drops

Location: Tomorrowland

Tron as of November 2022

After opening in Shanghai Disneyland in 2016, TRON finally opened in Disney World in April 2023.

I haven’t had a chance to ride this attraction yet. But, when this post goes live, I will be in Disney World, and I will be riding it for the first time tomorrow, so I will update you then!

I’ve heard it’s very speedy and innovative, and after watching it being built gradually over the past few years, I can’t wait to ride it – and see if it was worth the wait!

3. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad

Height Restriction: 40in (102cm) +

Highlights: Moderate speed, small drops

Location: Frontierland

Back to the mountains. Instead of going into outer space, Big Thunder Mountain takes you on the “wildest ride in the Wilderness”.

This train is thrilling enough to be enjoyable, but it isn’t too scary for younger guests, and it’s one of the tamest rides in this complete guide.

My major complaint about this ride is that it slows down to go around corners. What’s that about?!

Big Thunder Mountain in Disneyland Paris doesn’t do that, so I’m not sure why that is.

But apart from that, it’s a good attraction – especially if you time it right, and watch the fireworks from the train.

4. Seven Dwarfs Mine Train

Height Restriction: 38in (97cm) +

Highlights: Quite fast, small drops, storytelling

Location: Fantasyland

This is one of the most popular rides in Magic Kingdom – and for good reason.

It’s similar to Big Thunder Mountain (as they’re both “train” roller coasters), but this ride feels faster, though the overall ride is shorter.

What makes this ride stand out is the Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs theme. The combination of animatronics with this high-speed roller coaster really differentiates it from the other attractions at Magic Kingdom.
