5 Significant Reasons Why You Should Avoid Staying at the Disney World Caribbean Beach Resort

DISNEY WORLD CARIBBEAN BEACH RESORT

When you’re planning your magical vacation to Walt Disney World, choosing the perfect resort is a crucial step in creating an unforgettable experience. Unfortunately, the Disney World Caribbean Beach Resort may be the worst resort for your next trip.

DISNEY WORLD CARIBBEAN BEACH RESORT REVIEWS

Sure, Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort boasts a vibrant and tropical ambience. But this can hide some of the major downsides of staying at Disney’s oldest Moderate Resort.

So, let’s embark on a journey to uncover the noteworthy reasons why Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort might not be the best fit for your magical adventure.

This post is all about the 5 significant reasons why you should avoid staying at the Disney World Caribbean Beach Resort.

Why you should avoid staying at the Disney World Caribbean Beach Resort

1. If you’re scared of heights or you don’t like the Skyliner

The Skyliner is either a blessing or a curse – depending on your feelings on heights and cable cars.

If you enjoy heights and view the Skyliner as a fun attraction to and from the parks, this is probably the main reason you’ll want to stay at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort.

However, if you don’t want to use the Skyliner, the only other option for getting to Hollywood Studios and Epcot is driving yourself.

Unfortunately, there are no buses that will take you to and from the parks – if you’re staying at Caribbean Beach.

The only time this will change is if the Skyliner is closed for maintenance, weather or other issues.

2. I’m not kidding when I say this resort is MASSIVE

Caribbean Beach is a sprawling resort. And this isn’t necessarily a bad thing.

It’s quite stunning with its “beaches” and a 1.25-mile running/walking trail.

This resort also contains 5 vibrant islands:

  1. Aruba
  2. Barbados
  3. Jamaica
  4. Martinique
  5. Trinidad

But, it’s so colossal that it has an internal bus service!

If you like to be within a short walking distance of all amenities, Caribbean Beach is definitely NOT the right resort for you. Especially if you (like most guests) walk tens of thousands of steps in the parks, and don’t want to add to that number too much at your resort.

3. Caribbean Beach is one of the most expensive Moderate Resorts at Walt Disney World

Yes, unfortunately, you pay for those great amenities (namely, the Skyliner).

Let’s compare the prices of Moderate Resort room rates for one night (March 2nd-3rd, 2024) in a Standard Room:

Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort – $390

Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – French Quarter – $403

Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – Riverside – $403

Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort – $375

So, as you can see, Caribbean Beach is slightly cheaper than the Port Orleans Resorts, but more expensive than Coronado Springs.

You also should keep in mind that Disney usually runs better discounts on Port Orleans Resort – Riverside (and Coronado Springs) than Caribbean Beach Resort.

This is assumed to be based on the demand for Caribbean Beach Resort being higher, so it is much easier for Disney to reach capacity at this resort than some of the other Moderates.

4. There are no elevators in the room buildings

This is something that makes no sense.

Sure, the Disney World Caribbean Beach Resort opened in 1988, but elevators existed back then!

If mobility is a concern for you (or you don’t want to carry your bags and suitcases upstairs), make sure to request a room on the first floor.

5. It’s not the best resort for an “adults-only” trip

Now, it’s very hypocritical of me to say this, as I stayed at Caribbean Beach for a 10-night adult-only stay a couple of weeks ago. And I absolutely loved it. But that’s probably because I’m still a child at heart.

It is quite clear that this resort caters best for families with children. Whether it’s the colourful theming or the two slides at the resort’s feature pool, the Fuentes del Morro Pool.

This is not a bad thing at all, and shouldn’t put you off staying here for a “grown-up trip”.

However, if you’re looking for more peace and luxury at a Moderate price tag, I recommend checking out Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort.

I stayed here for an adult trip for 14 nights last November, and it was so great, I’m staying there again this December!
