Disney World Magic Kingdom Attractions List For a One-Day Visit
@caffeinebythecastle Which attractions do you prioritize on a daytrip to Magic Kingdom?! 💖 #magickingdom #disneyworldrides
1. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad
Height Restriction: 40in (102cm) +
Highlights: Moderate speed, small drops
Location: Frontierland
Are you ready for the wildest ride in the Wilderness?
Big Thunder Mountain is one of Magic Kingdom’s most beloved and iconic attractions.
Located in Frontierland, this exhilarating roller coaster takes you on a thrilling adventure deep into the heart of an abandoned mining town.
As you board your mine train, you’ll discover that this is no ordinary ride—the entire experience is steeped in rich storytelling and immersive theming – taking you back as far as the 1850s!
If you’re not worried about watching the fireworks from Main Street and seeing all the castle projections, I highly recommend watching them whilst riding Big Thunder Mountain. Riding Big Thunder Mountain in the dark and seeing the fireworks is truly magical.
Since Big Thunder Mountain’s refurbishment (in January 2023), it feels faster and less jerky. So now is the time to check it out!
2. Haunted Mansion
Height Restriction: Any height
Highlights: Slow, dark, slightly spooky
Location: Liberty Square
Prepare to step into the eerie and enchanting world of the Haunted Mansion – if you dare 👻
Located in Liberty Square at the Magic Kingdom, this timeless masterpiece invites you to embark on a ghostly tour through a mansion. A haunted mansion – as the name states.
Board your “Doom Buggy,” a delightfully eerie omnimover vehicle, and glide through the mansion’s haunted halls. Each room is more ghastly and entertaining than the last.
Encounter the ghostly inhabitants of the mansion, from the singing busts in the graveyard to the mischievous hitchhiking ghosts who may decide to join you for the rest of your journey.
This is one of the least scary haunted houses at theme parks, but it is a dark ride, so it may not be one of the best Disney World Magic Kingdom rides for toddlers, but most kids shouldn’t find it too frightening.
So, if you’re ready to join 999 happy haunts and become the 1,000th ghostly resident of the Haunted Mansion, step right up!

Whilst riding this attraction, you will see everything from London to pirate ships to mermaids!
The combination of gentle flight and scenes from the beloved animated film adds to the enchantment, making it a family-friendly experience suitable for guests of all ages.
Peter Pan’s Flight is not just a ride; it’s a timeless journey that captures the wonder and imagination of childhood. Whether you’re reliving the magic of the story or experiencing it for the first time, this classic Disney World attraction promises a flight of fantasy that will leave you with a heart full of joy and a belief in the power of imagination.
4. Pirates of the Caribbean
Height Restriction: Any height
Highlights: Slow, dark boat ride with pirates & small drops
Location: Adventureland
Prepare to set sail on a high-seas adventure like no other as you enter the world of Pirates of the Caribbean – arguably one of the best dark rides at Magic Kingdom (and Disney World, in general).
This classic dark ride takes you on a captivating journey through a Caribbean port town under siege by pirates. As you step into your boat and begin your voyage, you’ll immediately be transported to a bygone era of piracy, complete with moonlit waters, ancient fortresses, and a bustling pirate-infested town.
You will experience the distinct scent of the water and the catchy song, “Yo Ho (A Pirate’s Life for Me)”, filling the air. Soon, you’ll find yourself descending into the depths of the pirate-infested town.
Marvel at the lifelike animatronic pirates engaging in humorous and chaotic scenes, from chasing wenches to pillaging the town’s rum supply.
Your boat glides past pirate duels, burning buildings, and even a haunted grotto where skeletal pirates guard their ill-gotten treasures. But don’t worry, you’re in the capable hands of Captain Jack Sparrow, who pops up throughout the adventure in pursuit of his own treasure.
Pirates of the Caribbean is a masterpiece of storytelling, seamlessly blending thrilling action with Disney’s signature charm and humour. It’s an attraction suitable for guests of all ages, making it one of a few must-do Disney World Magic Kingdom attractions for many guests.

5. Seven Dwarfs Mine Train
Height Restriction: 38in (97cm) +
Highlights: Quite fast, small drops, storytelling
Location: Fantasyland
Step into the heart of a beloved Disney classic on the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train.
This enchanting attraction combines the magic of storytelling, music, and innovative ride technology to create a truly unforgettable experience. Oh, and it’s quite thrilling!
This roller coaster invites you to join Snow White and her Seven Dwarfs on a musical adventure deep into the heart of the diamond mine. As you approach the attraction, you’ll notice the charming details of the mine’s exterior, including whimsical waterwheels and sparkling gems.
Board your mine train and prepare for an exuberant journey through the mine’s twisting tunnels and caverns.
And, of course, you’ll be greeted by the cheerful faces of the Seven Dwarfs, hard at work while singing “Heigh-Ho.”
This is a great attraction, but if you’re choosing between Big Thunder Mountain and Seven Dwarfs Mountain, I’d opt for Big Thunder Mountain. I know, that’s a controversial opinion, and many people would disagree with me, but hear me out. Big Thunder Mountain is an older, more iconic mine train ride. It’s longer, has shorter wait times and excellent fireworks views!
That being said, if you have time to wait or don’t mind purchasing an Individual Lightning Lane, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train is a delightful journey into the heart of a beloved, classic story.

6. Space Mountain
Height Restriction: 44in (112cm) +
Highlights: Roller coaster in the dark, moderate to large drops, neck pain (and perhaps pain in general)
Location: Tomorrowland
Prepare for a thrilling voyage beyond the stars as you step into the futuristic world of Space Mountain – one of Magic Kingdom’s best roller coasters.
Nestled in the heart of Tomorrowland within the Magic Kingdom, Space Mountain beckons adventurers with its sleek white exterior and the promise of a thrilling journey through outer space.
Upon entering the attraction, you’ll find yourself in a bustling spaceport, where futuristic trains known as rockets await your arrival. Step into one of these sleek spacecrafts and secure your seatbelt as you prepare for launch.
The adventure begins with a powerful blastoff as your rocket hurtles into the inky darkness of outer space. What follows is an exhilarating roller coaster experience like no other. The only illumination comes from the stars and galaxies that surround you. This makes the roller coaster even more thrilling.
Space Mountain isn’t the smoothest ride ever, and I occasionally come off this ride with neck pain (‘ache’ is probably a better word, because it isn’t too bad). But be aware of this, especially if you already get neck/back pain, etc.
But if you’re ready to take a cosmic journey through the stars and experience the thrill of space travel, don’t miss Space Mountain. It’s a Disney World classic that promises a heart-pounding adventure and memories of interstellar excitement that will last a lifetime 🚀
7. Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress
Location: Tomorrowland
Step into the pages of history and witness the remarkable progress of technology and family life on Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress, a beloved and nostalgic attraction in Tomorrowland at the Magic Kingdom.
The Carousel of Progress is the only show on this list for several reasons. 1) Walt Disney created it. 2) It’s the most innovative show at Magic Kingdom, as it’s performed entirely by animatronics. 3) It’s the most viewed show in American history.
This classic Disney experience – which debuted at the New York World’s Fair in 1964 – begins with a turn-of-the-century American family, the Johnsons, and their charming home.
The attraction is divided into several scenes, each representing a different era in American history. You’ll follow the family through the decades, from the gas-lit days of the 1900s to the optimistic innovations of the 1920s, the post-war prosperity of the 1940s, and finally, the technology-filled world of the 21st century.
This attraction has been updated since Walt Disney’s passing, but is still remarkably charming.
The attraction’s iconic theme song, “There’s a Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow,” adds to the nostalgia and optimism of the experience. As you travel through time, you’ll see how inventions from electricity to virtual reality have shaped our lives and impacted the future.
Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress is a testament to Walt’s vision of progress and his belief that the future is filled with endless possibilities.
If you’re looking for a journey through time, nostalgia, and the optimism of progress, don’t miss Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress. It’s a timeless Disney attraction that reminds us of the beauty of innovation and the hope of a “Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow.”
