Are you planning a Disney World vacation, and considering purchasing Disney World park hopper tickets?
Today, we are talking about the biggest reasons why you shouldn’t purchase Disney World park hopper tickets.
Buying Disney World tickets is not as easy as it sounds. Trying to figure out the pricing depending on the season or how many days you need access to the parks is challenging enough.
But then you realise or remember that the park hopper add-on option exists. And you start wondering if Disney World park hopper tickets are essential for your Disney Vacation. That being said, you may not need park hopper tickets.
This post will cover 8 reasons why Disney World park hopper tickets are not worth the money.
Disney World Park Hopper Tickets

Tickets with a Park Hopper option at Disney World currently allow you to visit more than one theme park after 2pm – usually costing $60-$80 (on top of the price of your tickets).
Disney World tickets with a Park Hopper Plus option provides the same benefits as the Park Hopper Option – plus a certain amount of access to the water parks (Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach) and sports activities. This costs an additional $85 per ticket.
1. Most parks have enough attractions to fill the duration of the day – without park hopping
As you may already know, Disney has 4 parks (excluding the water parks). These parks are full of attractions.
Magic Kingdom has over 55 attractions.
Epcot has over 65 attractions.

Hollywood Studios has over 30 attractions.
Animal Kingdom has over 60 attractions.
I highly doubt that anyone will experience all 30 – 65+ attractions in one day (unless you’re on a Disney World VIP tour, which costs $450 – $900 per HOUR for a minimum of 7 HOURS!).
Because of this, it may not be worth park hopping, as there are plenty of attractions to experience in just one park per day.
2. Disney has other free places to go if you don’t want to spend all day in one park
Disney World is primarily known for its theme parks. For good reason; they’re arguably the most innovative in the world.
One of the best-known free places to go is Disney Springs – Disney World’s best-known shopping and dining destination!
It is free to enter Disney Springs (and is free to park, in most cases).
That being said, with 100 stores and over 65 eateries, it might be very hard to go to Disney Springs without spending anything!
Another great place to visit (for free) is Boardwalk. Here you can enjoy a turn-of-the-century boardwalk, with shopping, dining and entertainment options.
Another popular free activity in Disney World is resort hopping.
This is where you visit other Disney resorts – even if you’re not staying there.
With over 25 resorts at Disney World, you have plenty to see and do. (That’s a lot of gift shops to explore!).
3. If you park hop, you may only have a few hours in each park
If you switch parks partway through the day, you might only have a handful of hours to spend in each park.
When wait times are high, or you have time-consuming table service meals booked, this may not be enough time to get everything done.

4. It’s not worth it if you sleep in or go to bed early
If you don’t spend all day in the parks, it often won’t be worth park hopping.
If pool and resort time is also important to you, it can be best to focus on just one park a day, to allow a balance.
5. The money used to add on the park hopper option may be better spent elsewhere
An additional $60-$85 per ticket is no small amount – especially if you have a large family.
Instead, this money could be better spent on upgrading to a “better” resort, buying merchandise or other experiences.
6. You’ve already spent enough on Disney World tickets
Standard one-day Disney World tickets already cost $109-$189 per day!
If you’ve already spent a small fortune on your Disney World tickets, do you really want to spend even more, just to spend a few hours of a park day in another park?
7. It might not be worth it if you’re relying on Disney transportation
Boats and buses can be slow, the Skyliner stops in storms, and the monorail breaks down.
If you’re really unlucky, it happens twice on your four-night Polynesian stay. Yes, I’m speaking from experience. And one time, I was stuck on the monorail on the way to Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas party.
Even if you enjoy taking Disney transportation (like me), we all have our “horror stories”, where the bus was an hour late to Animal Kingdom. Yes, also personal experience.
If you’re relying on Disney transportation to take you from park to park, you have to allow a good amount of time.
If you’re expecting both buses to run smoothly, at some point, you may be disappointed.
More often than not, I’ve had a great experience with Disney transportation. But if I told you it was unequivocally reliable 100% of the time, I’d be lying.
