Disney World quick service

Going to Disney World is extremely exciting. But with hundreds of Walt Disney World dining locations, deciding what to eat and where to eat can be overwhelming. (As if a theme park double the size of Manhattan wasn’t overwhelming enough …).

Today, I’m going to break this down for you and tell you why you should prioritise eating at Disney World quick service dining locations. Our aim is to make your Disney vacation planning much easier!

This post is all about why Disney World quick service dining is better than table service dining.

Why Disney World Quick Service Dining is Better Than Table Service Dining

I love a breakfast at Topolino’s Terrace, but at heart, I’m a quick service kind of girl. I love the convenience and great options served at Disney World! Do you prefer quick service as well?! 1. It’s MUCH MORE affordable

One of the main reasons that many people opt for quick-service dining is the price. Disney World quick service prices are quite low (by Disney World standards).

Most quick-service meals will cost you between $10 and $15 (check out the Disney World quick service menus here to see the prices). Sure, this can also add up, but it’s significantly cheaper than a meal at a table service restaurant, often ranging from $30-$50.

2. There is still a good variety of choice

That’s right: you can eat more than just burgers and fries at Disney World. It turns out theme park food has evolved since the 1980s!

Here are some of the different cuisines offered in Quick Service dining locations:

  • African
  • Asian
  • British
  • Chinese
  • Cuban
  • French
  • German
  • Greek
  • Indian
  • Japanese
  • Mexican

3. The choice of indoor & outdoor dining locations

We all know that Florida weather is predictably unpredictable. So, it’s nice to have the choice of indoor and outdoor dining at Walt Disney World, based on the weather at that particular second.

Sometimes Woody’s Lunchbox is perfect, and other times it’s only perfect if you want to get drenched in the rain.

It’s great to be able to choose whether you’d prefer to escape or embrace the crazy Florida weather!

4. Less time-consuming than table service dining

Have you ever been to a table service restaurant at Disney World? Have you ever had to wait longer than you would like to be seated, and then have your order taken?

Sure, you might get a “fancier” or more visually appealing meal, but is it worth the wait?

Then, you have to wait for your meal to arrive (and if you’re having appetisers and desserts, expect to wait even longer).

If you’re a theme park foodie, this may not be a problem for you. But, if you want to ride as many rides as you can (after all, you paid a lot for those Disney World tickets), this may be a big waste of time for you.

To save time, Disney World quick service dining can be a fabulous alternative. Especially as you can now mobile order your meals at a variety of quick service locations. If you really want to save time, you could even order and pay for lunch while queueing for Tron!

5. You don’t need to make dining reservations

Continuing on from point 4, there’s a sense of flexibility to dining at Disney World quick service locations. And by that, I mean you don’t need to know where you want to eat 60 days in advance (and stress out about making reservations). If you’re a spontaneous, live-in-the-moment kind of vacationer, quick service dining might be the better option for you!

6. Low-cost allergy friendly food

It may not be easy to find food to meet your dietary requirements, but there are some quick-service options. I would still recommend checking the Disney World quick service menus ahead of time, as you may not find a meal/snack at every quick-service location.

For more details, check out the Disney World website.

7. No pre-set menus (like at some table service restaurants)

If you’re like me (a selective eater who some might describe as “fussy”), I’m often not the biggest fan of a pre-set menu. I don’t always want to be told which starter, main and dessert I’m having. And just because I book a restaurant with a pre-set menu, it doesn’t mean I will want that meal 60 days later. (I told you I’m not fussy …

8. You don’t have to pay gratuity

I’m not saying the cast members at table service restaurants don’t deserve gratuity. They absolutely do! But, it can get very costly, adding another 18%-20%+ to the already expensive cheque.

By opting for quick-service food (especially if you’re mobile ordering), you don’t have to pay any gratuity, which can save you a significant amount of money during your entire vacation.

If you are an international guest, and tipping servers is not expected in your country (like me – gratuity isn’t expected in England), it is worth remembering this, if you are setting a budget for your Disney World dining.
