Disney World is home to 6 value resorts. That’s quite a lot, so I’m writing this post to cover the worst Disney World value hotels you might want to avoid on your next Disney trip!
Value resorts are great for two main reasons: staying in the Disney bubble, whilst simultaneously saving money.
That being said, there are still plenty of downsides to Disney World value hotels. Which is hard for me to say, as I love staying at Disney’s value resorts!
This post is all about the worst Disney World value hotels you may want to avoid.
Disney World Value Hotels
@caffeinebythecastle If you stay at a Disney World Value Resort, youโll probably have an awesome time! But – like any Disney resort category – the Value Resorts have their fair share of flaws. To read the full post, check out caffeinebythecastle.com ๐ #disneyworldresorts #disneyworldresort
The 6 Disney World value resorts are:
- Disney’s Art of Animation Resort
- Disney’s Pop Century Resort
- Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort
- Disney’s All-Star Music Resort
- Disney’s All-Star Sports Resort
- The Campsites at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort
Today, I am going to explain why you shouldn’t plan a stay at these Disney World value hotels.
Why You Shouldn’t Stay At Disney’s Art of Animation Resort
- It is the most expensive value resort. It is not uncommon to see lower rates for standard rooms at Coronado Springs – a moderate resort at Disney World – ย than Little Mermaid rooms at Art of Animation
- Art of Animation has more family suites than rooms (which usually cost between $459 – $912, depending on the suite and the time of year). This is far from a value price, and won’t save you a lot of money. It also isn’t ideal for solo travellers and small parties, who don’t need the extra space
- The Little Mermaid rooms (which are basically Art of Animation’s standard rooms that sleep 4) are starting to look dated. This is accentuated as 3 of the other value resorts (Pop Century, All-Star Movies, All-Star Music resorts) have been renovated, and the All-Star Sports rooms are in the process of being renovated
- The Little Mermaid rooms feel smaller than the other resorts, as they have two queen beds (or in some cases one king bed). In the other value resorts, one of the beds is a Murphy bed, which makes the room feel more spacious. That being said, the room is 277 square feet – which is 17 square feet bigger than the other value rooms
- The family suites are much more expensive than the All-Star Music family suites (which cost approximately $323 – $658).
Why You Shouldn’t Stay At Disney’s Pop Century Resort
- It arguably feels incomplete. It was supposed to represent the entire 20th century, but the only sections are the 50’s, 60’s, 70’s, 80’s and 90’s. But “the rest of the century” is now Art of Animation. Click here for more details on this story
- The rooms cost more than a stay at the All-Star resorts – despite them being this same size (260 square feet) and have the same theming
- The theming of the resort is arguably “cheesy” and outdated (although, it is almost meant to be, as it’s supposed to transport you back to the 1950’s-1990’s)
- The theming feels sterile, as it is the same as the All-Star resorts. It lacks uniqueness and creativity
Why You Shouldn’t Stay At Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort
- It’s usually more expensive than All-Star Music and All-Star Sports for the same quality, room size and design
- It is located in the Animal Kingdom park area; therefore it is relatively far away from the other parks.

- The only free transportation is the buses – which may be shared with the other All-Star resorts. It isn’t on the Skyliner – like Pop Century and Art of Animation
- There aren’t any family suites at All-Star Movies
Why You Shouldn’t Stay At Disney’s All-Star Music Resort
- It is in the Animal Kingdom resort area. which is far away from the other parks (Magic Kingdom, Hollywood Studios and Epcot)
- The only transportation option is buses – and they are sometimes shared with other All-Star resorts
Why You Shouldn’t Stay At Disney’s All-Star Sports Resort
- This resort attracts sports teams, which can make the resort feel very busy and loud
- The rooms are currently being refurbished, so you may end up with an old, un-refurbished room
- It arguably has the worst theming of the All-Star resorts – especially if you’re not a sports fan
- It sometimes shares buses with the other All-Star resorts
- It is in the Animal Kingdom resort area
- It only offers buses to take you to the theme parks
Why You Shouldn’t Stay at The Campsites at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort
- The weather is unpredictable in Orlando, and often isn’t ideal for camping
- It’s less relaxing than going back to a hotel room after a long day at the parks
- It’s not exactly ideal if you’re afraid of Floridian wildlife
