Breaking things down by meal type can help you plan your budget more effectively. Let’s take a closer look:
- Breakfast: Mornings at Disney can start with a simple breakfast costing around $10-$15 for adults and $7-$9 for kids.
- Lunch & Dinner: For lunch, expect to pay approximately $10-$20 per adult entrĂŠe at a quick-service restaurant. If you explore table-service dining, it could run you about $35-$70+ per person.

How Many People Are in Your Party?
Wondering how much to budget for food at Disney World?
When you’re planning your Disney World food budget, the size of your party can really impact the bottom line.Â
Of course, more people mean more meals, snacks, and drinks to account for.Â
If you’re going with a big group, consider sharing meals or snacks to keep costs in check (some portions can be pretty large!).
But then again, if youâre traveling solo (or with just one other person), youâll be buying a lot less food, which can save you money.
Your dining preferences may also change depending on whoâs in your group.
On my recent Disney World solo trip, I ate exclusively at quick-service locations and pool bars.
However, if I was traveling with my family, Iâd be more likely to dine at some table-service restaurants.
So, once you know how many people are in your party, it will be far easier to set a realistic food budget for Disney World.
Assessing Your Dining Preferences
Thinking about what kind of meals you enjoy is a crucial step in planning your food budget for Disney World. Are you someone who enjoys elaborate meals at sit-down restaurants, or do you prefer a quick bite while exploring the parks? Your dining preference can dramatically shape your budget.
- Quick Service Meals: Think of quick service like fast food. It’s usually more affordable and doesn’t require reservations, making it an excellent choice if you’re on a tight budget. You may think of it as âburgers, fries and pizzaâ, but there are actually Quick Service locations specialising in lots of different cuisines. The average quick service meal cost at Disney World is often significantly lower than other options, but you don’t have to compromise on choice – or quality!

- Table Service Meals: Enjoy more upscale-themed dining experiences. Table service might be more your style. These meals generally cost more but offer unique ambiance and menu options. Keep in mind that these experiences can add up quickly, especially if you’re planning a family food budget for Disney World.
- Bar/Lounge Service: The perfect in-between dining option is bar/lounges. These are usually cheaper than table-service restaurants and are more relaxed. Sometimes, the food is priced similarly (or a little more) than quick-service meals. And in some cases, you donât even have to make reservations (but check this in advance if thereâs a particular bar or lounge you want to visit).

Pros of Dining Plans:

Money-Saving Tips for Eating at Disney World Parks
Order Kids Meals
Traditionally, kids’ meals are small portions. But at Disney World, this usually isnât the case.
Most kids’ meals come with a main (e.g. burger or mac ânâ cheese) and two sides (e.g. fries, apple slices, carrot sticks) and a small drink (e.g. water, soda).
With most kidsâ meals ranging in price from $7 to $10, itâs a pretty good deal (by Disney standards).Â
And because of the two sides, it can actually be a pretty filling option that can also save money!
Some Snacks May Replace Meals
Disney sells some snacks that are so filling they can easily act as breakfast or lunch.
For example, a Mickey pretzel is big and filling; it can act as lunch – especially if youâre planning an earlier dinner.

Alternative Money-Saving Tips for Eating at Disney World
Grocery Shopping and Meal Prep
One of the best ways to save on food expenses is by grocery shopping (or getting groceries delivered).
Not only does this help stretch your Disney food budget, but it also brings a slice of home into your vacation.
- What to Buy: Consider getting breakfast items like cereal and milk, which are easy and quick. You could also shop for sandwich ingredients for a picnic lunch in the parks.
- Meal Prep Benefits: Preparing meals or snacks ahead of time can save you money and allow you to eat healthier. You won’t be lured by every delicious-smelling food stand!
Keep in mind that this is easier if you are staying in a DVC Villa or Studio (with a kitchen or kitchenette) or an off-site villa or apartment.
Snacking Smartly
Disney World is full of delicious, albeit pretty expensive, treats.
But you can snack smartly by bringing your own affordable options.
- Packable Snacks: Think about packing granola bars, trail mix, or fruit. These are not only budget-friendly but also easy to carry.

- More Affordable Disney Snacks: If you must try something in the park, go for more budget-friendly items like a  refreshing DOLE Whip, or a cookie or muffin (these snacks are around $5).
Dining Outside the Parks
Eating outside the parks can be a cost-effective way to enjoy a hearty meal without paying Disney prices.
There are numerous nearby restaurants that offer delicious meals at a fraction of what you’d spend inside Disney World.
- Nearby Restaurants: If you have a car or donât mind using Uber and Lyft, there are plenty of restaurants close to Disney World which may be cheaper (and in some cases, better than a number of Disneyâs restaurants).
- Disney Springs: There are some low-cost places to eat at Disney Springs. The first that comes to mind is Chicken Guy. You can get a decent kidsâ meal portion for $5! Thatâs cheaper than many snacks in the Disney Parks!
