After all, Disneyland Paris is one of Europe’s most popular tourist destinations.

And, of course, summer is a crazy popular time to travel.

So, does this combination make Disneyland Paris too busy? Or is it still worth the visit?

When is the summer season at Disneyland Paris?

The summer season at Disneyland Paris typically spans from late June to early September, coinciding with school holidays and warmer weather.

During this time, the park usually experiences a notable increase in visitor numbers as families and tourists flock to Disney for their summer vacation.

So, although visiting during summer can be more enjoyable than during the freezing winter – the crowds are something to consider before booking a visit during Disneyland Paris’ pretty busy season.

School Holidays cause larger crowds

As I mentioned, school holidays coincide with summer, making this one of the busiest times to visit the park.

In France, the school holidays usually fall in July-September (which is similar in many other countries).

As expected, this makes the parks busier on weekdays – as well as weekends – in the summer season.

Busy Events at Disneyland Paris in Summer

Okay, so we know that school holidays mean the Disneyland Paris parks are busier.

But there’s more to consider!

Disneyland Paris holds other events that can lead to an increase in visitors.

A main event held in summer is Disneyland Paris Pride, which is held in June. In 2023, this was an evening event on June 17th, so it only altered park attendance on that one day.

However, there are also other French holidays/events to consider, as they can also cause increases in attendance:

Bastille Day: July 14th, 2024
Assumption of Mary: August 15th, 2024

So, is it worth visiting Disneyland Paris during summer? What else should I consider?

It can be worth it.

I have visited Disneyland Paris twice during summer (I usually visit in the winter months).

Despite visiting in July-August, the crowds were bearable when I visited. However, I avoided major holidays, so that would’ve definitely helped.

Arguably, the main drawback of visiting Disneyland Paris during the summer is the price.

If you take a Disneyland Paris vacation during winter, it’s almost surprisingly affordable (when you take a look at the Disneyland Paris tickets and hotel packages).

But in summer, those prices are at/close to their peak.

Luckily, you can save money by staying at an off-site hotel. But, that means you won’t get access to Extra Magic Time (an extra hour in the parks before off-site guests can enter).

When the crowds are larger, Extra Magic Time can be a game-changer if you’re trying to maximise the number of attractions you can check out.

However, Disneyland Paris parks often stay open later in the summer months, so you can still enjoy a long day at the parks – even if you don’t stay at an on-site hotel.

Also, be aware of the heat. The first time I visited Disneyland Paris in summer, I was shocked. It was hot. Like, really hot!

So, you may not want to stay in the parks all day if the heat is unbearable.

If that’s the case, it may not be worth it to visit during the hottest season of the year.

In the summer months, you can expect the temperature to reach between 20 and 30 degrees Celsius.

Can you still have a productive visit during the summer?

Yes, it’s definitely possible.

You can purchase a Disney Premier Access pass (essentially their new, paid FastPass) – but this can be expensive (16-ride passes cost between €90 – €190 – ouch!).

And keep in mind that this is at the top of the price of your Disneyland Paris tickets.

I haven’t purchased the Disney Premier Access pass before, but this is a really helpful guide if you’re considering it for your next trip.

If you want a more affordable option, you can also purchase Disney Premier Access One passes (for just one attraction). You can buy up to 3 of these a day – but this can also be expensive as you’re paying for each attraction individually (usually between €5 and €13 each).

Alternatively, you can take advantage of Extra Magic Time in summer – if you’re an on-site guest.

If not, you can try to ride the more popular attractions during some of the parades and fireworks – as wait times can decline during these daily events.
