Have you heard about the Wilderness Lodge Copper Creek refurbishment at Disney World?!
It’s finally happening!
Following the impressive refurb at Boulder Ridge Villas (also at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge), expectations are high.
The Copper Creek Refurbishment schedule is fast, surprisingly so.
Can they really change the DVC Studios and Villas that much in a few months? After all, the Bay Lake Tower refurbishment is expected to take a year.
So, will the refurb be that big of a deal, or just an underwhelming makeover on a tight budget?
Let’s discuss 🙂
This post is all about the Copper Creek refurbishment at Walt Disney World Resort.
Copper Creek Refurbishment
What is Copper Creek Villas & Cabins at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge?
The Copper Creek Villas & Cabins at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge are a DVC Resort located at Wilderness Lodge (a Deluxe Disney Resort).
Fun fact: Disney converted hotel rooms at Wilderness Lodge into studios and villas.
At this DVC property, you can find the following room types:
- Copper Creek Deluxe Studio (sleeps up to 4 guests)

- 1 Bedroom Villa at Copper Creek (sleeps up to 4 guests)
- Copper Creek 2 Bedroom Villa (sleeps up to 8 guests)
- Three-Bedroom Grand Villa (sleeps up to 12 guests)
- Two-Bedroom Cabin (sleeps up to 8 guests)
The Copper Creek Villas opened on July 17th, 2017.
I stayed in a Copper Creek Deluxe Studio in 2024, and loved it, and think it’s aged well (especially in comparison to some other DVC resorts due a refurb – such as Disney’s Animal Kingdom Villas).
But now, it’s time for an upgrade.
Have Copper Creek Villas been renovated?
Copper Creek Refurbishment Schedule
According to Disney, the Copper Creek refurbishment was scheduled to take place between mid-May 2025 and September 2025.
This refurb includes the rooms being renovated.

There will be a Copper Creek Villas refurbishment (referring to the studios, 1,2 and 3 bedroom villas) and a Copper Creek Cabins refurbishment – so regardless of the room type you book, you should be able to stay in an updated studio/villa/cabin here very soon!
Since August 5th, 2024 there has been Wilderness Lodge construction (an exterior refurb), which has impacted hotel guests and those staying at Copper Creek. This could continue until 2027, assuming permits are accurate.
How will the studios, villas & cabins actually change during the Copper Creek DVC refurb?
The 2025 Copper Creek refurb will be a soft goods refurbishment.
What does this mean?
Well, it essentially means that elements of the almost 200 rooms will be updates – focusing on soft furnishing i.e. curtains and bedding.
This is less significant than a hard goods refurbishment (which can lead to replacements of furniture, appliances etc).
For reference, the long-awaited, year-long refurb is at Bay Lake Tower at Disney’s Contemporary Resort is a hard goods refurb – which partially explains the difference in timelines.
Will Copper Creek get Murphy Beds?
UPDATE: Good news: THERE ARE MURPHY BEDS IN THE RENOVATED COPPER CREEK ROOMS!
Murphy beds have been included in new and refurbished DVC resorts since the opening of Disney’s Riviera Resort in 2019.

The sofa beds that were at Copper Creek feel very outdated (especially as most DVC studios and villas no longer have them).

Boulder Ridge VS Copper Creek Refurb
In 2022-23, Boulder Ridge Villas at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge had a much-needed hard goods refurb. And boy, do the studios and villas look beyond incredible.

I’ve stayed in a Studio and 1 Bedroom Villa at Boulder Ridge since the refurb, and was pleasantly surprised at HOW amazing they look.
The bright and muted colours, the upgraded furniture. It’s all amazing!

But keep in mind Copper Creek is only having a soft goods refurbishment. That said, when I stayed in a Deluxe Studio at Copper Creek last year, it was still in great shape, despite being 7 years old at the time of my stay.
Frequently Asked Questions about Copper Creek Refurbishment & More
What is the difference between Copper Creek and Wilderness Lodge?
Wilderness Lodge is a hotel, whereas Copper Creek is the second DVC property located at Wilderness Lodge (along with Boulder Ridge).
The difference is less drastic between Wilderness Lodge and Copper Creek as they are both located in the same main building. (Boulder Ridge Villas is its own building at Wilderness Lodge).
Please note that you don’t *have* to be a DVC member to stay at any of these resorts.
Copper Creek refurbishment price – will the rates increase when the rooms are refurbished?
For DVC members, and those renting DVC points, no.
The Copper Creek DVC point chart is almost identical year to year (there’s a limit to how many points Disney can charge on this property until 2068).
On the hotel side (if you’re booking a Copper Creek stay through Disney directly, as a hotel guest – instead of a DVC member or renter), you may see an increase in prices, or a decrease in hotel discounts.
One way to avoid huge increases in price is renting DVC points.
By using a trusted DVC rental company (my go-to is David’s Vacation Club Rentals), you can save money (sometimes 50% + less than direct Disney hotel rates) – if your DVC request is fulfilled, or if you book a confirmed reservation.

What Disney hotel is renovated in 2025?
There are multiple hotel refurbishments happening at Walt Disney World Resort in 2025. To find out more, check out our post on: Disney World Hotel Renovations – Should You Stay at a Disney Resort During a Refurbishment?
What’s the difference between the Copper Creek Villas & Cabins at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge and The Cabins at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort?
These two resorts often get mixed up, After all, they both have ‘Wilderness’ and ‘Cabins’ at in their titles. (And they’re both Disney Vacation Club Resorts)! But they are actually pretty different.
Copper Creek has Deluxe Studios, 1,2 and 3 Bedroom Villas, and luxurious (and very expensive) cabins.
Fort Wilderness only has cabins (and campsites but this is not part of the DVC property). The 1-bedroom cabins at Fort Wilderness are a lot more reasonably priced, but not so fancy.
